Elli Stamatopoulou and Martina Fattori receive the Gian Paolo Brivio international award

Dr Elli Stamatopoulou, former PhD student at the Mads Clausen Institute, has received the prestigious Gian Paolo Brivio Award for her outstanding research in the physics and chemistry of advanced materials. The prize is jointly conferred by the European Doctorate in Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials (PCAM) and by the Instituto Lombardo – Academy of Science and Literature, Milan. During the annual meeting in February the award was presented where Elli shared the honour with Martina Fattori from Germany.

The Gian Paolo Brivio Award is given to young researchers who have particularly distinguished themselves with their PhD work and their contribution to the research community. In the nomination for the award, Elli Stamatopoulou was recognised for her scientific curiosity, strong collaborative skills and dedication – qualities that, according to the laudation, make her a role model for young researchers.

‘Elli Stamatopoulou and Martina Fattori are excellent examples of what the PCAM collaboration is all about: academic depth, international outlook and the desire to create something together. We are proud to have been part of their journey and this award is fully deserved,’ says Professor Horst-Günter Rubahn, Director of the Mads Clausen Institute and coordinator of the PCAM network.

Both awardees will give a lecture during the summer school of the PCAM network that takes place within symposium T of EMRS autumn meet in Warsaw.
